Uganda Revenue Authority

The Uganda Revenue Authority is the government agency responsible for the collection of taxes in Uganda. Established in 1991, URA’s primary mandate is to assess, collect, and account for revenues, including customs duties, income tax, VAT, and excise duties. URA also ensures compliance with tax laws to promote economic development by funding government activities and public services.

Uganda Registration Services Bureau

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau is the entity responsible for registering various legal documents, such as businesses, intellectual property, marriages, and insolvencies in Uganda. URSB was established to streamline and facilitate business registration processes, improve intellectual property rights protection, and ensure effective registration services for personal and business entities in the country.

Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA Uganda)

CPA Uganda is the designation for qualified accountants certified by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the national body that regulates the accounting profession in Uganda. CPA Uganda ensures that its members meet high standards of accounting, auditing, and financial management. The institute conducts exams, offers training, and monitors the professional conduct of accountants to uphold ethical and professional standards in Uganda’s accounting sector.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

The ACCA is a global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification. In Uganda, ACCA operates as part of its international presence, providing an accounting qualification recognized worldwide. ACCA focuses on equipping professionals with strong financial and management skills, ethical conduct, and the ability to work across industries. Members undergo rigorous training and examinations, and ACCA is highly regarded for its standards in financial reporting, auditing, and taxation.

Uganda Human Resource Managers’ Association (UHRMA)

The Uganda Human Resource Managers’ Association (UHRMA) is a professional body representing Human Resource (HR) practitioners in Uganda. It aims to advance the HR profession by providing education, professional development, and networking opportunities for HR professionals. UHRMA advocates for best practices in human resource management, promoting ethical HR conduct, labor rights, and compliance with Uganda’s employment laws. The association also helps organizations build effective HR policies to improve productivity and employee well-being

Local Councils (LCs)

Local Councils (LCs) in Uganda are grassroots administrative units responsible for governance at the village, parish, sub-county, and district levels. Established to ensure decentralization and community involvement, LCs handle local administration, conflict resolution, and service delivery. They play a key role in governance by bridging the gap between central government and the local population, and ensuring that community needs are met in areas like health, education, and infrastructure development. Local Councils are also involved in local elections, land matters, and dispute settlements.

Stanbic Bank Uganda

Stanbic Bank Uganda is one of the leading commercial banks in the country and is a member of the Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest banking group by assets. It offers a wide range of financial services including personal banking, corporate banking, investment solutions, and digital banking services. Stanbic Bank is known for its focus on innovation, corporate social responsibility, and promoting economic growth through various partnerships with key sectors such as energy, agriculture, and small businesses.

FTB (Finance Trust Bank)

FTB (Finance Trust Bank) Uganda is a locally owned financial institution that provides banking services to individuals, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and women entrepreneurs. It started as a credit institution but later gained a commercial banking license. FTB is well-known for its commitment to financial inclusion, offering products tailored to underserved communities such as savings accounts, loans, and financial literacy programs aimed at empowering women and promoting economic development across Uganda.

Zimba Women

Zimba Women is an organization based in Uganda that aims to close the market access gap for women-owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs). By supporting women entrepreneurs, Zimba Women helps boost economic development by enhancing the growth of income per capita, potentially reducing poverty and narrowing the gender income gap. Women, being vital to African economic development, are currently underrepresented, and Zimba Women works to empower them, fostering a socio-economic environment that promotes their full participation in the business sector.
